What's the downtime and result longevity?
Effortless recovery meets lasting results.
PicoSure treatments, taking just 20-30 minutes per session, often require three to six visits for optimal results, with some effects lasting permanently and others needing occasional maintenance. There’s no downtime, allowing for an immediate return to daily routines, though it’s critical to protect the newly sensitive skin from sun exposure to preserve the enhancements. Regular use of high-SPF sunscreen is advised to prevent UV damage and maintain your skin’s rejuvenated appearance.

While the healing process after Picosure Pro laser treatment will vary by individual. Do not be alarmed as mild side effects are perfectly normal. The most common issues that clients experience are:
- Immediately after treatment, there may be mild to moderate redness and swelling. Pinpoint bleeding may also occur.
- Occasionally clients may experience temporary purging due to cellular regeneration, the response is temporary lasting for a few days up to two weeks, and they clear up spontaneously.
- Freckles, sun spots and other superficial lesions will turn darker and look dry & flaky for four to seven days, It may take up to 10 days to gradually slough off. Do NOT pick, peel, rub, scrub, or scratch the treatment area throughout the healing process. This could potentially cause hyperpigmentation.
- For deeper pigment, it requires multiple sessions (4-8 sessions) to get to the deeper layer and further breakdown the melanin, so over the period of treatment, you will notice the dark spot get lighter and eventually disappear.
What's the post-treatment care?
WHAT TO DO
- Maintain good skin hygiene. Gently cleanse and pat dry the skin using a gentle cleanser.
- In the initial week following treatment, it’s recommended to use a gentle and non-comedogenic moisturizer (like Elta MD, CeraVe, La Roche Posay, etc.) twice daily for 5-7 days.
- Always keep the skin hydrated, it’s recommended to drink plenty of water daily and use the hydrating mask every night or every other night for the first week for the maximum result.
- For clients with sensitive/dry/dehydrated skin, consider introducing a serum containing ingredients such as Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, and Peptides to aid in skin rejuvenation.
- For clients with pigmentation concerns, it is recommended to use a skin brightening cream containing hydroquinone, retinoids, Vitamin C, azelaic acid, or kojic acid starting 5-7 days post-treatment. These ingredients can help lighten pigmentation.
- You can resume your regular skin care regimen and activities after 7 days.
- We recommend clients apply a Mineral sunblock with SPF 50 daily to protect the skin. Re-apply every 2-3 hours when you are outdoor.
WHAT NOT TO DO
- Avoid strenuous exercising, hot baths, showers, or hot tubs for 24-48 hours. Increasing irritations may develop with any activity that stimulates blood flow or increases body temperature.
- It is best to wait 48 hours for your skin to heal before applying any make-up. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to wait longer. It is important to listen to your skin and give it the time it needs to heal.
- Discontinue use of skin products with retinol, hydroquinone, salicylic/glycolic/lactic acid, vitamin C, or Benzoyl Peroxide for 5-7 days depending on skin sensitivity.
- Do not use anything that irritate the skin like waxing, depilatories, a washcloth, or Clarisonic brush for one week.
- Avoid using cosmetics containing alcohol for at least one week.
- Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided 2 weeks before and after treatment as it may cause certain complications (possibility of blistering or skin discolorations etc.) We recommend clients apply a Mineral sunblock with SPF 50 daily to protect the skin.
- Some clients may experience Mild flaking/scabbing which is expected and normal. Refrain from picking, scratching, or rubbing the treated area. This can lead to further irritation and potential complications.
- Occasionally clients may experience temporary purging due to cellular regeneration, the response is short-live and clear up spontaneously. Avoid picking on the pimples as it may result in potential hyperpigmentation and compromise the overall result.
