POST RF MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT:

What To Do After Your RF Microneedling Treatment

first 2 days after:
  • Avoid Heat and Sweat: This includes direct sunlight, strenuous exercise, steam rooms, saunas, and hot showers.

  • Hygiene: Maintain the treated area in a clean condition. Refrain from applying makeup or any products that may cause irritation. For the first 12 hours after treatment, cleanse the skin using distilled water/saline water only to avoid irritation. Gently pat dry, do not rub. After 12 hours, you can use a gentle cleanser. Always maintain good hygiene to avoid breakouts or infection.

  • Clothing: Avoid wearing tight or restrictive garments over the treated area, such as compression leggings, bodysuits, leotards, or similar clothing that may cause friction or occlusion.

first week after:
  • Pause Exfoliants: First 5 days, Hold off on products containing retinol, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, vitamin C, hydroquinone, or benzoyl peroxide to prevent over-sensitizing the skin.
  • Avoid Alcohol-Based Products: Skincare or cosmetics with alcohol can dry and irritate the skin. Stick to alcohol-free options.

  • Moisturize Gently: For 5–7 days post-treatment, apply a soothing, non-comedogenic moisturizer (e.g., EltaMD, CeraVe, La Roche-Posay) twice daily.

  • For Pigmentation Concerns: Starting 5-7 days after treatment, use brightening ingredients like Vitamin C, retinoids, kojic acid, azelaic acid, or tranexamic acid. Discontinue use 5 days before your next session to avoid sensitivity.

  • Don’t Pick or Rub: If you notice flaking or light scabbing (common with spot or texturizing treatments), let it heal naturally. Picking can cause irritation, scarring, or pigmentation.

  • Don’t Pick Pimples: Some mild breakouts may occur due to increased cell turnover. Let them resolve naturally to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

  • Resume Routine in 7 Days: After the first week, you can return to your regular skincare products and daily activities.

first 2 weeks after:
  • Avoid Irritants on the Skin (2 Week): No waxing, depilatories, scrubs, washcloths, or Clarisonic brushes. These may disrupt the healing process.
  • Sun Protection Is a Must (Minimum 2 Weeks): Limit sun exposure and apply SPF 50+ broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors.
Between Your Appointments:
  • Hydration: Continue to drink plenty of water after your treatment to help cell turnover.

  • Follow Up: Attend any follow-up appointments as scheduled to track your progress and discuss any concerns with your provider.

What to Except after RF Microneedling

RF Microneedling stimulates your skin’s natural healing process to produce new collagen and elastin, leading to smoother texture and firmer tone.

Results appear gradually, with visible improvement in 3–4 weeks and continued skin tightening and refinement over the next 3–6 months as collagen remodeling occurs.

Right After Treatment

  • Redness & Warmth: Skin may appear red or flushed, similar to a mild sunburn. You might feel some heat or tightness right after the treatment.
  • Swelling: Mild puffiness is common, especially around delicate areas like under the eyes. This typically subsides within 24–48 hours.
  • Sensitivity: The treated area may feel slightly tender or sensitive to touch.

3 days after:

  • Itchiness or Dryness: The skin may feel dry or slightly itchy for a few days as it heals.
  • Tiny Dots or Grid Marks: In some cases, you may notice tiny scab-like marks at the needle insertion points. These fade as the skin heals.

Between 1-2 weeks

  • Mild Flaking or Peeling: As the skin regenerates, some light shedding may occur—this is part of the renewal process and typically resolve within 7-10 days.
  • Initial purging: RF microneedling boosts cell turnover and stimulates deeper skin layers. As your skin renews itself, it may push impurities (like trapped oil, bacteria, or dead skin cells) to the surface — resulting in temporary breakouts. It’s short-lived and part of the healing and renewal process, usually resolve within 1-2 weeks.
  • Between 2-6 weeks

  • All Side Effects Resolves
  • Your skin is fully healed to its original state
  • Skin may begin to appear tighter, and smoother.
  • New Collagen Production starting
  • Maintenance and Follow-Up:

Some patients choose additional sessions for enhanced contouring or to treat new areas.

Collagen production will reduce early sign of aging.

Follow-up evaluations with your provider can help assess progress and determine if touch-up treatments are needed.
